David Martin
Senior Pastor

David’s pursuit of a personal knowledge of God, and a better understanding of the Bible, has taken him down many educational paths. After graduating from McMinnville High School in 1996, David attended The Great Commission School in McMinnville for two years, studying the Bible verse-by-verse. He earned an Associate degree in religion from Salem Bible College in 2004, and a Bachelors degree in pastoral ministry from Eugene Bible College in 2006. In 2009 he completed a Masters of Divinity from Multnomah Biblical Seminary in Portland, OR. Then in 2011 he started working on a Doctorate of Ministry at Western Seminary in Portland, OR.

David’s response to God’s call to ministry has been expressed in a variety of ways.  His first ministry experience was starting a Bible club on his high school campus and leading it for 3 years.  He served as a leader in Royal Rangers for 7 years, as a missionary in Belize, Central America for 10 months, followed by 3 years as a youth pastor in Carlton, OR. After moving to Eugene he preached and taught at Gilham for over a year before becoming the senior pastor in March of 2006. He also has also taught a few classes at Northwest University Salem campus from 2009 thru 2011.

David married the love of his life, Kerry, in March of 2010. They love doing life and ministry together as a team.  One of his greatest passions is to teach the Bible in a way that is both easy to understand and applicable to life. He enjoys reading anything having to do with theology or spiritual life, exploring the amazing hiking trails of the Pacific NW, watching movies, and going on date nights with Kerry. He loves quality conversations, going snow shoeing, traveling, and hanging out with family and friends.

The Lord has blessed David and Kerry with three children: Timothy, Andrew, and Elizabeth.  They all bring such joy to our congregation with their smiles and laughter.
